GREEK MYHTOLOGY

in the greek world, myhtology has been a significant part of their culture. i myself find greek myhtology to be extremely interseting. in my mind, it ties together and fits like special puzzle peices. within greek myhtology contains olympian gods, titans, and mythical creatures. the gods include Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Hestia, Hera, Aris, Athena, Apollo, Aphrodite, Hermes, Artemis, Hephaestus. the titans are Gaea, Uranus, Cronus, Rhea, Oceanus, Tethys, Hyperion, Mnemosyne, Themis, Iapetus, Coeus, Crius, Phoebe, Thea, Prometheus, Epimetheus, Atlas, Metis. what really got me into the greek mythological world was agame called god of war. in that game the titans try to defeat the gods, with the main character,kratos,trying to get revenge. his story not so much, but the titans and gods story intrigued me. i found it to be capturing and exciting.

langston hughes was one of the greatest black poets of all time. he was a t his peak during the harlem renaissance, which was a time of african american revival. the poem a dream deffered tells what happens to something not pursued or ignored. hughes makes the reader understand how precious and important dreams can be. if not taken of and if not pursued, well:

A dream deferred
What happens to a dream deferred?

Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore--
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over--
like a syrupy sweet?

Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.

A series of explosions rocked southern Afghanistan's volatile Kandahar province on Saturday, killing at least 35 people and wounding 47 others, according to a spokesperson for the provincial governor.Provincial Gov. Toryalai Wesa confirmed the blasts hits four locations. One of the explosions struck near the police headquarters in Kandahar, said Wesa's spokesman, Zalmai Ayoubi. Another blast struck near the province's prison, and caused the collapse of some residences.An unknown number of people are believed to be dead or trapped in the rubble, Ayoubi said.The casualties include security forces and civilians, he said, adding that both the death toll and the injuries are expected to increase.Coalition forces in Kabul said the International Security Assistance Force in Kandahar was not targeted. Last week, the top U.S. general in Afghanistan vowed that coalition forces "are absolutely going to secure Kandahar," as security efforts expand in the country's south.

C.B. brooks "the street sweeper"

C. B. Brooks designed the street sweeper and patented it on March 17, 1896. Prior to his invention, streets were cleaned manually by workers picking up trash by hand or sweeping it with brooms. Brooks' invention was made of a truck with a series of broom-like brushes attached which pushed trashe and debris off onto the side of the road. his invention is used still today. it is extremely effective and gets the job done. brooks invention is not only useful to me, but useful to many other americans. had it not been for the street sweeper we would be living in filth. streets would be unsanitary and there would be crucial health issues. along with millions of others i am thankful for his invention.

student tasered

taser-a small gunlike device that fires electric darts to incapacitate a person temporarily.


on February 2, 2010 there was a dangerous outbreak in a Pennsylvania school. the incident happened when two girls began fighting at a basketball game. things began to get serious and players got involved. after seeing the extremeness of the matter the police officers used a taser to stun a student. the kids in the video looked surprised and shocked at the police officers reaction. after viewing the video i myself was stunned at the behavior of the police. it seemed as if they were overreacting. they weren't following the law, only abusing their power. i agree that some action needed to take place, but repeatedly tasering a student seems out of line. the video of the incident can be seen at my fox.com
